About Adams Wooley

Brian F. Adams

Brian received his CGA designation in 1968, which coincided with moving from Victoria to Cranbrook to begin the firm that has become Adams Wooley.

During the early years the accounting practice grew to include several offices in the East Kootenay region and by 1980 included offices in Alberta, Northwest Territories and several locations in BC.

A restructuring of the practice then reduced the number of offices and brought the main focus back to serving clients in the East Kootenay.

At the same time the practice was developing, Brian was elected to the Board of Governors of CGA BC, which led to being elected President of CGA BC in 1974 and President of CGA Canada in 1978. Brian was an original signatory to the formation of the International Federation of Accountants and became one of three Canadian representatives to that body for the years 1978 through 1980. The Auditor Certification Board of BC was formed by the government in 1974 and Brian served as the representative of CGA BC for several years, being Chairman of the Board for five years.

Following his involvement with our professional associations Brian was elected to the Board of the Regional District of East Kootenay, serving as Chair of the Board for five of his seven years. While continuing to provide accounting, auditing and tax services Brian developed particular knowledge of receivership and business valuation services, which he has provided to a wide variety of clients over the years.

Although no longer a partner in Adams Wooley he continues to consult to the practice. Brian is a member of a number of professional organizations, including CPA BC, Manitoba, Alberta, NWT, and Canada. He is a Life Member and a Fellow of CPA BC and Canada and was awarded the Queen’s Silver Jubilee medal for service to the accounting profession.

On a more personal note, Brian’s hobbies are landscape photography, hunting and hiking. In recent years golf has taken the place of climbing in the mountains. Married, with 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson Brian enjoys time with his family.
